Melissa Nunn, a local 18 year old athlete, was paralyzed while on vacation in Hawaii with her family. Melissa and her family have been traumatized in many ways. The community has rallied around the family and their prayers and show of support has been of great comfort to the Nunn's. The family has been traumatized financially, as well. Here are a few other facts for you to consider: Average cost of a van that accommodates a quadriplegic: $45,000 Average cost of a lift to transfer a quadriplegic from bed to wheelchair: $9,500 Average cost of modifying a home into a wheelchair accessible living environment: $175,000.
